Keith Moon
Would've been 73 today.

But then again...he wouldn't, innit.

One of those blokes who was never gonna make old bones.

Keith Moon was GOOD.

Re: Keith Moon
Has to be up there as one of the best drummers of all time, may have been a nutter but behind a drum kit he was a picture of dedication and concentration and on another level.

Did they demolish his old place in Chertsey?

Re: Keith Moon
I'm lucky to have seen the Who while Moon was still alive and Zeppelin with Bonham bashing the drums,. I also saw the definitive E Street band line up in 82.

Owzat?

It was demolished about 30 odd years ago by one of the blokes from ERASURE who owned it.

My mate used to live on St Anns Hill as a kid, and I remember this happening.

Shame. Was quite a wacky design as I remember. Unusual for this country of dull, identikit houses.

My brother used to deliver Moon's newspapers to that gaff.

Tara House, it was called.

Re: Keith Moon
didn't use hi hats initially

Leonard Hatred 8:41 Fri Aug 23
Re: Keith Moon
Never really got the hang of hi hats. Townshend insisted he use them on Who Are You.

Moon was all fat and washed up and couldn't play properly by then. He was 31 😮

He wasn't the most techical and could be a bit all over the place but it really worked because The Ox held the whole band together.

Re: Keith Moon
He died shortly after this. Even now, an incredible performance, by all. "Won't Get Fooled Again" 1978. THIS is ROCK.

The Who died when Moon died.

They should've jacked it in when Moon bought the farm.

I used to drink in The Anglers in Teddington where their exploits were legendary, including holing up in one of their houses now and then with crates of whisky for drinking competitions. Loser was the first to be taken to hospital.

Bit before my time unfortunately.

You could probably say that for most bands, that continued after losing a key player.

Re: Keith Moon
That is fantastic Geoff

It a brilliant collective performance but the bass playing is astonishing.
